Dejan Lovren says Liverpool can ‘see’ themselves in the Champions League final.
Tuesday’s goalless stalemate with Porto was enough to see Jurgen Klopp’s side through to the last eight of the competition due to a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
The Reds joined Real Madrid in the pot for next week’s quarter final draw with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Manchester City also expected to progress.
And Lovren believes that Liverpool’s blistering form, with more goals in this season’s competition than any other team, has instilled a belief in going all the way.
He said: “The goal is step-by-step, let’s see who we get in the quarter finals.
“I don’t like to talk about the future but we really like that in this form, we can see ourselves in the final. I don’t care (who we draw).
“I think there are teams that don’t want to face us because they know it is difficult to face us.
“Let’s enjoy who we get.”
Attention shifts back to the Premier League this weekend and a lunchtime showdown with Manchester United set determine the battle for second place.
A win at Old Trafford would allow Liverpool to move a point clear of United, despite their fierce rivals still having a game in hand.
“It’s always one of the biggest games in the Premier League. For sure, a derby against Manchester United will be quite challenging,” added Lovren.
“These games we will play for second place so let’s see what happens. We need to be patient; they will play deep and will not attack us.
“We need to be patient and keep our nerve but I am positive. If we play like we have been playing this season I think we can win the game.”
