Andy Robertson admits he is frustrated by a slow start to his Liverpool career.
To date, the Scotland international has made just three first-team appearances since securing an £8 million move from Hull City in the summer.
Robertson was expected to be the Reds’ natural successor to Alberto Moreno at left-back but the Spaniard’s recent resurgence has limited playing opportunities.
Jurgen Klopp insists that the 23-year-old remains very much part of his plans and urged him to follow Moreno’s lead in his bid to stake a regular claim.
Although Robertson concedes that he has endured an imperfect beginning to life at Anfield, he echoed Klopp’s words and vowed to fight on for a starring role.
“Of course it’s difficult. I don’t make any secret of it, I hate not playing,” he told the Daily Record.
“It’s been a very frustrating three months for me, but I spoke to the manager as I felt as if the settling-in period was over and thought I was ready to play.
“I felt I did myself justice in the games I did play, so I had a good chat with him. He gave me a few points to work on, so that’s kept me going.
“I know I’m still in his plans and, if I work on the things he’s asked me to, hopefully I’ll be in the first team or closer to it.”
