Klopp not worried by Liverpool FC’s profligacy

Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool’s lack of clinical edge does not concern him.

Saturday’s draw with Burnley saw the Reds fire 35 shots but only Mohamed Salah’s equaliser was able to break through of their nine efforts on target.

Missed chances dominated the agenda as they were pegged back by Sevilla in Wednesday’s Champions League group opener despite dominating proceedings.

But Klopp has dismissed concerns that his side’s profligacy is a worry on the back of enduring three win-less games in the space of seven days.

He said: “Not in the long term if you think about this. It’s completely normal.

“I’m still a football fan but I cannot think any more after being 25 years in the business like a football fan.

“I know the mother of all goals is the opportunity. It’s the chance, so we have enough chances. If we would not create, then I would be really concerned.

“A few guys [in the media] thought we should have created much more. That’s quite difficult I would say because there’s still another team on the pitch.

“But we had the right ones and big ones, enough to win.

“There were situations, of course, now don’t pass, now don’t shoot [but] that’s not how football works.

“On a very good day, yes, but obviously it was a good but not a very good day, so that’s why we still had a few wrong decisions on the pitch.

“This is a really hard game to play, a lot of teams already recognised it so let’s carry on.”
