Jurgen Klopp is unfazed by Everton’s movements in the transfer market.
Liverpool’s local rivals have strengthened significantly over the summer and twice broken their transfer record to land seven senior players with more set to follow.
Wayne Rooney returned to his native Goodison Park while a host of promising talent including Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Michael Keane also arrived.
The Blues’ business is in stark contrast to that of Liverpool, who have only added Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson to their first-team setup to date.
Klopp’s attempts to land Virgil van Dijk have yet to bear fruit despite the defender informing Southampton last week of his desire to leave the club.
Interest in Naby Keita is also set to be shelved for another 12 months after RB Leipzig continue to hold firm since rejecting a £66m bid for the midfielder.
But the Liverpool manager insists that the movements into Ronald Koeman’s side do not interest him despite suggestions of a potential power shift on Merseyside.
“First of all, I’m not interested in what other clubs are doing until we play them,” said Klopp.
“So they can make the best business or the worst business, I’m not in it. I don’t know why they do the things they do, that’s why I’m completely fine.
“Yes, I heard [about Everton], of course a few things that they have done.
“Strikers, good. Wayne Rooney, you don’t have to talk about. The centre-half (Keane) came, good. A lot of really good business [like] Klaassen so it’s all good.
“But, at the end of the day, just like us, they can only line up 11 players. Then we have to see what will happen. But all the teams have tried to get stronger.”
“With Everton, usually derbies are really close games. I don’t think we have gone into any of the last few derbies thinking: ‘It’s only Everton.’ No.
“There is a lot of respect and if they’ve done good business, well done. But when we face them we still want to win.”
