Christopher Rohrbeck will become the latest addition to Liverpool’s coaching staff.
Rohrbeck will join Jurgen Klopp’s backroom set-up as a physiotherapist after leaving the Reds manager’s former club Mainz at the end of this season.
The 38-year-old worked with Klopp as he spent a total of 14 years with the Bundesliga side before agreeing a move to Anfield.
Mainz’s sporting director Rouven Schroder confirmed that Rohrbeck will join Liverpool’s ranks this summer.
He said: “Christopher Rohrbeck has worked for us in a reliable fashion on a high level for many years and was now presented with a chance to switch jobs.
“Even though for us this means losing one of our long-time employees, we wanted to grant Christopher and his family their wish to take on a fresh challenge in Liverpool.
“We thank him for his services and wish him and his family all the best for their future.”
His appointment will follow the arrivals of Andreas Kornmayer and Mona Nemmer from Bayern Munich’s technical ranks in 2016.
Kornmayer joined Liverpool as the club’s new head of fitness and conditioning while Nemmer was appointed its new head of nutrition.
Meanwhile Klopp sent Joe Gomez home from an end-of-season friendly in Australia.
Gomez had been part of the club’s travelling party but was forced to leave during refuelling in Thailand after feeling unwell during the original outbound journey.
An assessment was made on the defender, who only returned to action midway through this season, by medical staff as he was ruled out of the trip to Sydney.
