Marco Silva facing fight for his Everton future

Marco Silva is fighting for his Everton future following their 2-0 loss to Norwich.

Saturday’s reversal to the Premier League newcomers leaves the Blues just four points adrift from the relegation zone ahead of an unenviable run of games.

Over the next month, Silva’s side face clashes with Leicester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City before January 2.

The Goodison Park crowd made their feelings clear to both the beleaguered Portuguese coach and the club’s hierarchy after the defeat to the Canaries.

Majority investor Farhad Moshiri, chairman Bill Kenwright and director of football Marcel Brands all witnessed Everton’s seventh domestic loss of the campaign.

It is understood that all three met with Silva at Goodison in the wake of the loss to Daniel Farke’s side as they seek a solution to the club’s current malaise.

A return for David Moyes is still seen as the most viable option should the ex-Watford boss be sacked although it would initially be on a short-term basis.

Silva refused to be drawn on the situation concerning his future post-match.

He said: “It is not the moment to talk about individual positions.

“We have to look what is best for us as a club and for myself and the players as well – but always the club has to be at the top.

“If you are really disappointed with the afternoon I can imagine they [fans] are as well and they have the reaction to the manager and the players.

“When you lose a match, the first person they look to is the manager. Football is like that.

“The message is I respect what is their feeling, for sure. It is not the first time they felt the way they felt this afternoon.”
