A teenager has been arrested over a second shooting in Toxteth.
Police were called to Bala B’s Soul Food Kitchen on Lodge Lane at around 5pm last Friday (June 19) after a person reportedly opened fire inside the premises.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for a gunshot wound and later discharged.
As part of the investigation, a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He has since been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries.
The teen is the second person to be arrested this week in connection with shootings in the Toxteth area after a 16-year-old boy was detained by police on Tuesday.
Detective Inspector Chris Clark: “I hope the arrest of a suspect reassures our communities that our ongoing investigation continues to gather pace.
“We are determined to find those responsible and our inquiries continue.
“We believe this was a targeted attack against this individual, who was chased on foot prior to entering the cafe.
“For the person carrying the gun to then open fire, with other people inside the building, is extremely reckless and could have had far worse consequences.
“Information provided by local people affected by gin crime is vital in reducing the threat, risk and harm.
“We urge anyone with information to come forward to police, anonymously via Crimestoppers, or by speaking to local authorities.
“Although we have now made an arrest, we are still appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come forward.
“Similarly, if you have any other information about gun crime in your area, then please let us know and we will investigate.”
