A teenage boy has been arrested over a shooting on a Toxteth street.
Police were called to Carlingford Close shortly after 8.40pm on June 3 after reports that a 19-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound to his arm in the incident.
Officers initially believed the wounding took place on Upper Parliament Street but has now been confirmed it occurred outside the Merseyside Caribbean Council Community Centre.
The victim was taken to hospital, where his injuries were not deemed to be life-threatening.
A 16-year-old boy was detained on Tuesday (June 23) on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been taken into police custody ahead of questioning by detectives.
Detective Inspector Chris Clark said: “Although we have made an initial arrest the investigation into the shooting on Amberley Street in Toxteth is ongoing and this man will be questioned as part of our enquiries.
“We have increased the number of officers in the local area and are keen to speak with anyone who was on Amberley Street on the evening of 3 June and saw or heard anything suspicious but has not yet come forward.
“I would like to reassure residents and anyone who has information about what happened that we are committed to removing weapons and the people that choose to use them from the streets of Liverpool and will investigate any information we receive.”
“We continue to make inquiries as part of this ongoing investigation and would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.”
