Eighth person arrested for Ellis Cox murder

An eighth person has been arrested over the murder of Ellis Cox.

Detectives launched a large-scale investigation after the 19-year-old was gunned down at the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree shortly after 11 on June 23, 2024.

A 24-year-old man from Walton was arrested on Wednesday (June 3) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and has been into police custody for questioning.

The seven previously arrested, including a 19-year-old from Maghull stopped on return at Liverpool Airport in April, are on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Steve Wilkinson said: “Our investigation continues to progress and this man will be questioned about Ellis’ murder.

“Although we have made this arrest, I want to urge anyone with information to come forward.

“I want to thank the community so far for the information they have provided to us and please be assured that we are determined to get justice for Ellis’ family.

“We’re continuing to appeal for any information from anyone who is yet to come forward, the smallest detail of which could be vital to our inquiries.”
