Man arrested for racist Liverpool Airport graffiti

A man has been arrested over racist graffiti at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Multiple reports of racist and anti-establishment graffiti written across the buildings at the Speke terminal were made between December 2024 and May 2026.

Following an extensive investigation between airport chiefs and LJLA’s policing team, a 60-year-old man from Halewood was arrested on Thursday (May 21).

He is currently in custody for questioning after being detained on suspicion of criminal damage and racially aggravated Section 5 Public Order offences.

Inspector Beth Blake said: “This has been a long-running investigation that has required a significant joint effort between Merseyside Police and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

“Liverpool John Lennon Airport welcomes passengers from all over the globe, and graffiti of a racist nature has no place here.

“We have demonstrated that we will be relentless in targeting anyone who promotes this type of behaviour and would encourage anyone who witnesses it or has any information to contact us so we can take immediate action.”
