Former Brookside star on UK most wanted list

A former Brookside star has been named on the UK’s most wanted list.

Philip Foster was convicted of a multi-million pound modelling fraud scheme in February 2025 which saw more than 6,000 victims caught up in the scam.

More than £13.5 million was defrauded through a string of UK sham modelling agencies run by the 50-year-old which National Trading Standards uncovered.

Foster, who played Christian Wright on the Liverpool-based soap between 1995 and 1997, ran the scheme for over eight years before being brought to justice.

He received an eight-and-a-half year prison sentence at Sheffield Crown Court in absentia but attempts to extradite him back to the UK have been unsuccessful.

The National Crime Agency has now named Foster, currently believed to be living in Spain, as one of 12 criminals wanted as part of Operation Captura.

Also named on the list is Kevin Parle, suspected of the 2005 murder of Lucy Hargreaves in Walton and the 2004 killing of teenager Liam Kelly in Dingle.

Parle, now 49, is also believed to be living in Spain since avoiding arrest.

Rick Jones, NCA’s deputy director of international, said: “(Suspects) shouldn’t feel that they are safe there.

“But the reason some of them choose Spain is that there are these large communities there, English-speaking, and they feel that they can hide better amongst that fraternity.

“They need to be outside the UK to avoid our attention and they will look for places where they can integrate themselves, and a British expatriate community is ideal for that for them.”
