A statement posted on Matou’s social media channels on Monday (April 27) confirmed the Malaysian-born businessman’s passing alongside a heartfelt tribute,

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Danny Boon, our co-owner and soul of our restaurant,” read the statement.

“Danny was dedicated to Matou. He was here every day supporting the team and making sure everything was just right.

“Matou wasn’t just a job, it meant so much more to him and he gave it his all.

“Danny’s passion for making Matou a success is such a huge part of who we are today. He was a leader, a friend, and family.

“We are grateful for the memories and the countless moments shared here.

“His spirit will live on in every dish served and every guest who walks through our doors. Our thoughts are with Danny’s family at this time.
