Man fighting for his life after Everton hit and run

A man is fighting for his life after a hit and run crash in Everton.

Emergency services were called to Jennifer Avenue at around 6.25pm on Tuesday (April 14) to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a blue Peugeot van.

The van failed to stop at the scene and made off in the direction of Scotland Road and the vehicle was later found abandoned on Latimer Street in Vauxhall.

The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital where his condition is currently described as serious.

Merseyside Police conducted a search of the area with temporary road closures on Jennifer Avenue and Scotland Road shortly after the incident took place.

An investigation is underway and the force is appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage of the collision to get in touch with them.

Detective Inspector Joe Rea said: “Our investigation into the collision is in the early stages and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiries.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to please contact us as a matter of urgency so we can establish the circumstances.

“We would also urge any motorists who were in the area at that time to please check your dashcam footage to see if captured the incident which will help with the investigation.”
