Foodbank collection bucket stolen at Anfield

Fans Supporting Foodbanks (FSF) have slammed a ‘chancer’ who stole a collection bucket outside Anfield.

The theft took place while the initiative set up by Everton and Liverpool supporters received donations before Tuesday’s (April 14) Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

Founded by Dave Kelly, Robert Daniels and current West Derby MP Ian Byrne, the volunteer-led organisation has spent over a decade tackling food poverty in the city.

FSF have held foodbank collections outside every Everton and Liverpool home match since October 2015 to raise much-needed supplies for local foodbanks

The group’s donations supply a network of eight food pantries across Liverpool which support up to 2,500 per week with essential food and community support.

“After over 10 years of foodbank collections at Anfield, Goodison Park and the HDS some chancer took the opportunity to steal our collection bucket this evening,” the charity’s X account confirmed.

“Shame on you, I hope your need is greater than the people we feed and the CCTV images are as clear as can be.”
