Four people have been arrested after a fatal street attack in Anfield.
Police were called to Oakfield Road at around 1.30am on Sunday, February 1 after reports that two men aged 53 and 54 had been assaulted by a group.
Both declined medical treatment when officers attended the scene despite suffering swelling and head and rib injuries respectively during the incident.
The 54-year-old man returned to Scarborough in the days after the incident but sadly passed away last Tuesday (February 3) from a medical episode.
A post-mortem will take place to establish his cause of death.
Detectives have since detained four people in connection with the incident.
Two men aged 28 and 20 from Croxteth, a 47-year-old man from Clubmoor and a 24-year-old man from Old Swan were all detained by police.
They were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and have since have been released on bail as enquiries continue.
