Police hunt men behind Liverpool city centre scrambler bike attack

Two men are wanted by police in connection with a violent attack in Liverpool city centre.

The incident took place in The Strand area of the city close to Mann Island on Saturday evening at around 7.15pm after a Vauxhall Corsa narrowly missed two scrambler bikes.

Both riders of the vehicles are believed to have run through a red light as they almost collided with the car and proceeded to smash the driver’s windscreen at the next of traffic lights before speeding off in the direction of Gower Street.

No description has been given of the assailants, who were both wearing helmets, as Merseyside Police launched their appeal for information behind the horrifying attack.

Superintendent Mark Morga said: “Following recent pro-active work, local policing teams have seized numerous scrambler type bikes which we believe were being used to commit crime and anti social behaviour on the streets of Merseyside.

“Incidents such as the one that occurred are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated and I would like to take this opportunity to urge the public to continue to help us by telling us where these bikes are stored, so that we can make our local communities safer.

“If anyone saw the incident, or you believe you know who is responsible please call us.”

Anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident is urged to call Liverpool CID on 0151 777 4064, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
