Police have released CCTV images of a man who may have been involved in an assault in Toxteth on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 1.45pm, mind the victim had a verbal altercation with the assailant in the L8 Superstore on Lodge Lane.
The 37-year-old was then assaulted outside the store by the offender, clinic sustaining cuts and bruises in the process, and is also reported to have suffered racial abuse.
A police investigation is now under way, with officers releasing CCTV footage released of a man they believe could help with their enquiries.
Detective Constable Joanne Brough said: “This was a particularly nasty assault. At the time of the incident, there would have been a number of people outside the store and in the area who may have seen what happened or saw the man leaving the area.
We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything.
“We would also ask the man in the CCTV still or anyone who knows of their identity to get in touch.”
