A 23-year-old man has died following an assault in Liverpool city centre.
Duncan Browne passed away on Monday after the fata incident outside the City Buffet restaurant on Hanover Street at around 3.40am last Sunday.
He suffered a cardiac arrest after being punched by a group of three men, who were reported to have left the scene in a blue and pink Hackney taxi.
Police arrested a 37-year-old man from Liverpool initially in connection with a Section 18 assault and has now been further detained on suspicion of murder.
Duncan’s family have paid a touching tribute to the Kirkby resident and urged anyone with possible information about his attackers to come forward.
They said: “Duncan was a hard-working boy from a loving and compassionate family who had ambitions to be a firefighter to serve his community.

“If anyone knows anything that can help identify the cowards who took Duncan’s life, please do the right and just thing and let the police know.”
Detectives are working round the clock conducting enquiries to trace the offenders and have also urged potential witnesses to contact them.
Offcers are particularly keen to speak to any taxi drivers who were at the nearby cab rank on Hanover Street or travelling past, in case they have vital dashcam footage.
Drivers can upload dashcam footage to be viewed by police via the NICE website.
Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to DM @MerPolCC or message Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook, quoting reference 21000465224.
