Manslaughter probe after kebab shop death

A man has died four days after he was attacked outside a kebab shop in Leasowe.

Patrick Michael O’Quigley was assaulted in Liscard Village, Wallasey in the early hours of Thursday August, 1. He was rushed to hospital with head injuries and died four days later on Monday August 5.

The 53-year-old who was known to some as Michael was pronounced dead in hospital.

A 34-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assault has now been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the area who may have seen what happened.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “Patrick Michael O’Quigley, also known as Michael, who is from the Wirral area, passed away in hospital on Monday 5 August.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by special trained officers.

“The 34 year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault had been further arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and has been bailed as enquiries continue.”
