Q-Park slash city centre parking prices

Q-Park are set to slash the prices of parking in Liverpool City Centre in an attempt to increase footfall.

Across the UK, footfall on high streets is down by 4.8% compared to last year, and shopping centre footfall is down by 3.6%. That figure represents a six year low in footfall which is a pretty scary drop for retailers. Whether the cause of this is down to the economy, or further behavioural shifts towards online shopping, Q-Park made the decision that they did not want the price of parking to contribute to deterring people from visiting city centres.

In July Q-Park introduced a handful of new tariffs that mean customers can park safely and securely with Q-Park in some of the UK’s biggest cities from just £1.80 an hour. The new tariffs are in a trial phase, with the 4 cities parks, including one Liverpool City Centre.

Parking at Queen Square in Liverpool has been reduced to as little as £1.80 an hour with the car park being within walking distance of Liverpool’s theatres and surrounded by restaurants.

Adam Bidder, Managing director of Q-Park UK & Ireland said “We think the new price tariffs will help drive footfall back into city centres following a dramatic drop in recent figures. Shoppers, locals and visitors can all benefit from safe and secure parking at an even more affordable cost”
