Tributes have been paid to a man killed in a broad daylight stabbing in Kirkby.
Police were called to Broad Lane at around 12.50pm on Sunday following reports that the victim in his believed to be aged 21 had been stabbed.
The man was taken to hospital where he later passed away as a result of his injuries. He has been identified locally as James Halewood.
News of the man’s death came barely 36 hours after a man in his 30s was shot in the leg close to The Windmill pub in the Tower Hill estate on Friday, July 5.
Merseyside Police imposed a 13-hour Section 60 order in the Kirkby area which expired at 7am on Monday in attempts to prevent further violence in the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Warlow said: “This is a very sad incident in which we are only in the very early stages of investigating.
“Therefore we are urgently appealing for anyone with information, no matter how small, to come and speak to us.
“Someone knows the person responsible and we need that person to come forward.
“We’re currently looking at CCTV as well as conducting forensic analysis and house to house enquiries but would appreciate any one with info, dash cam or mobile footage to DM @MerPolCC or call 101 quoting log 502 of 7th July.”
