A man suffered serious injuries in an attack on a Liverpool city centre bus.
The 32-year-old victim was on the 10B service close to Queens Square when he was attacked by a man with a screwdriver at around 11.10am on Tuesday.
He sustained puncture wounds to his back and has been taken to hospital where he is currently described as being in a serious but stable condition.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses are urged to come forward.
Police describe the offender behind the attack as white with grey hair, aged between 50 and 60, around 5ft 11in height of medium build and unshaven.
He was wearing beige trousers and a black jacket with his hood up, and was carrying a black bag.
Detective Inspector Paul Nilsen said: “This was a busy time of day and would have been shocking to witness for other passengers on the bus.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to assist our investigation into what happened and who is responsible.
“Were you passing and saw any part of the incident, or a man matching the description of the offender running off?
“We will pursue anyone who recklessly carries or uses weapons on our streets, as we know how catastrophic the consequences can be.
“Detectives will act on all information given to bring those involved to justice.”
