A boy has been arrested over the stabbing of a teenager in Birkenhead.
The 14-year-old was attacked at the junction of Ilchester Road and St James Roundabout near to Laird Street at around 4pm on Tuesday, February 19.
He received a puncture wound under his arm during the confrontation and underwent surgery in hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening.
Detectives arrested a 15-year-old boy from the local area on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and has been released on conditional bail.
Police have now issued a fresh appeal for anyone who either witnessed the incident or has heard anything since to come forward.
Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: “This incident took place on a busy junction in daylight hours.
“Were you passing by on foot or in a vehicle and saw what you might have thought was an innocuous disagreement between two boys?
“Your account, dashcam or CCTV footage could be absolutely vital in our investigation, so come forward and we will do the rest.
“Knife crime can and does have devastating consequences to victims, their families and friends, and the lives of everyone around them.
“Thankfully, this incident didn’t result in a fatality, but so easily could have and I would implore anyone who knows the circumstances or who was responsible to do the right thing and help us remove dangerous people and their weapons from our streets.”
