A woman has died after being hit by a suspected drug driver in Netherley.
Police were called to Lydieth Lea at around 12.40am on Thursday to reports that a Ford Mondeo had been involved in a collision with the 60-year-old pedestrian.
Emergency services also attended but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A 30-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a roadside breath test.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances and Merseyside Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact them.
