Review on sale of Calderstones Park due today

The decision on the judicial review on the hotly contested planning decision which would allow Liverpool Council to sell part of Calderstones Park will be given today in the High Court in London.
The proposal will see an area of the park sold for housing developments.
Mayor Joe Anderson has already signed a contract with Redrow which agrees the sale of the Harthill area of the park. He fully backs the plans to sell and redevelop the large area of green space.
The decision has been fought heavily within the Council and the local community who have raised £40,000 to fight the review and 53,000 names on a petition to the Council calling them to call off the sale.
An announcement of the final decision of the Judicial Review is expected at 9.45am at The Old Bailey.
