Merseyside Police have confirmed that their crime logs do not match rumours of multiple sexual assaults that circulated on social media on Sunday Evening.
A post appeared on social media stated “Hey gals, horrid bit of a public service announcement. My best mate just told me one of our mutual mates got spiked and raped on Lark Lane this week.
“She went to the GUM on Monday and the nurse said she was the 10th that week on Lark Lane. Tell any girls you know who drink down there to be careful please.
“There’s obviously a group of guys doing it there and they know what they’re doing. So be alert, don’t go out on your own or just avoid.”
Merseyside Police confirmed that their crime log does not match the reports and that even if the victims did not come forward to the police that third party services would have alerted to them to crimes on such a scale.
Police are keen to reassure members of the public that there was no cause for any fears over safety when visiting Lark Lane.
