Teenager stabbed in the chest in Toxteth street

A teenager was stabbed in the chest during a street attack in Toxteth.

Police received a report shortly after 4.50pm on Saturday that a 19-year-old man had been admitted to the Royal Liverpool Hospital with a stab wound to his torso.

It is understood that the victim was transported to the hospital in a Saab car. He is currently receiving treatment and his condition is described as serious but stable.

Detectives believe the incident happened on Princes Road, near its junction with Upper Warwick Street, and a cordon has been set up for forensic examinations.

House to house enquiries have also been taking place and CCTV opportunities are being explored.

Detective Inspector Debbie Tipton said: “We are very keen to hear from anyone with information about this incident.

“Any information, however small it may seem, could prove vital to our enquiries.

“We know he was taken to hospital in a black/dark blue Saab car which had had its windows smashed.

“If you saw this car earlier today in the area of Princes Road or en route to the Royal Liverpool Hospital, or have dashcam footage which might show the vehicle, please contact police.”
