Merseyside Police have confirmed that a murder investigation is underway following the death of a 48-year-old man who was assaulted in Kirkby on Tuesday, 23 October.
Emergency services were called to an address is Kelday Close at around 3.45am to reports of an assault.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious head and chest injuries, where he sadly died at around 8am today, Tuesday 6 November.
A 50-year-old man and a 55-year-old man arrested at the time of the incident have since been released on bail.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and a post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
Extensive enquiries are ongoing and detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
