Chinese tourists injured in Dale Street hit-and-run

Two Chinese tourists have been injured in a hit-and-run on Dale Street.

Police were called at 4.55pm on Tuesday to reports a Range Rover had collided with a Mercedes which was then in collision with two female pedestrians.

Three men, who were believed to be in the Range Rover, left the scene shortly afterwards and ran off in the direction of Exchange Street and Tithebarn Street.

All three are described as white, in their late 30s or mid-40s, with shaved heads and wearing dark coats and jeans.

The two women, understood to be visiting the city from China, are currently being treated in hospital, where their injuries have been described as serious.

Constable Andy Roper, from Merseyside Police’s Matrix Roads Policing Unit, said: “We’re keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision or the aftermath of it to establish exactly what has happened.

“We need your help to identify the driver and other occupants of the Range Rover who, despite it being clear that someone could be in need of urgent medical care, made off from the scene.

“I would therefore urge anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“Someone knows who these three people are and we need to work together to identify them as soon as possible so they can help with our investigations.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information which could assist the investigation is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log 722 of 30th October.
