A man has been arrested after a police stand-off for over 12 hours in Walton.
Emergency services were called to Lowell Street at around 3.25am on Monday following reports of an arson.
Officers arriving at the scene encountered a man in his 30s who began to make threats to them.
The road, close to Everton’s Goodison Park stadium, was cordoned off and officers including a police negotiator were in attendance.
Following a 12-hour stand-off, a 39-year-old man from the local area was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, assault, affray and robbery.
He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
