Arriva to launch Uber-style bus in Liverpool

An Uber-style bus service is set to begin operating in Liverpool this summer.

Commuters will be able to travel in the areas between the city centre and John Lennon Airport as part of the new initiative from travel operator Arriva.

Using the company’s on-demand ArrivaClick service, passengers can enter their chosen pick-up point and destination as part of a cash-less bus service.

Seat reservations and tracking their chosen vehicle with Merseytravel working alongside Arriva to roll the minibus service.

Kevin O’Connor, managing director of UK Bus Arriva, said “The bus services we run in Liverpool are relied upon by thousands of customers every day, and we are proud to bring this innovative and complementary new service to the city.

“ArrivaClick will complement existing public transport in the region, giving customers more options to use shared transport and we have big ambitions to make this flexible, responsive service available for thousands more journeys.

“Liverpool is a city that embraces new ideas, so it was the natural choice for us.”
