Teenager stabbed in Liverpool city centre

A 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the leg in a busy area of the city centre at approximately 4.45pm yesterday.

Police were called to Williamson Square to reports that a teenage boy had suffered a wound to the leg consistent with stabbing.

North West Ambulance Service attended the scene the boy was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, described as non-life threatening.

A short time later, a male was arrested near Queen Square on suspicion of section 18 assault and taken to a police station for questioning. Officers remain in the area to carry out witness enquiries and reassure the public.

Extensive CCTV enquiries are also on-going to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
