Man slashed during Camp & Furnace charity night

A man was slashed in the face outside Camp & Furnace after a fight broke out at a charity night.

Police were called to the venue to reports that a man in his 20’s had received a slashing injury to his nose.

The fight is understood to have started on the dancefloor before spilling out in to the street outside the venue.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said that the victim of the incident suffered a serious facial injury whilst the offender walked away with a group of men.

A knife was found close to the scene and is being forensically examined. The victim was taken to hospital however is not assisting police with their enquiries.

Friends Against Cancer Events (FACE) hosted the charity night and shared a tweet last week outlining that there would be additional security measures in place.

Guests were asked not to bring any glass – including perfume bottles – and were instructed all attendees would need to bring ID regardless of their age.

The tweet also urged guests to “come to the event with a good attitude”.

Forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing in to the incident and detectives have asked anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Mike Dalton said: “This incident demonstrates why we are so determined, working alongside our partners, to eradicate knife crime across Merseyside.

“The victim has suffered a serious facial injury which could easily have been even worse, and lives can and are ruined by people who recklessly carry dangerous weapons on the streets.

“The consequences can be catastrophic and we see lives ruined by such thoughtless actions.

“I would urge anyone who was in or around the Camp and Furnace in the early hours to come forward with any information, any images or videos you may have taken in the course of your night out, and which may prove key evidence in our investigation.

“The club was extremely busy and we believe that there may have been an altercation on the dancefloor immediately prior to this incident outside, so if you saw anything, let us know.

“We will be carrying out extensive enquiries today and I can assure people that we will act on all information provided to identify those responsible and bring them to justice, and help remove dangerous weapons from the streets.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting incident number 0066, or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
