An additional five police officers may be charged with criminal offences in relation to the Hillsborough disaster.
Police Officers are mainly being investigated relating to crimes such as doctoring statements in order to remove blame from fellow officers.
Two members of the West Midlands Police forces officers are currently under investigation and a further three officers from South Yorkshire Police are facing charges.
A decision as to whether the police officers will be charged is expected in March.
The additional five police officers facing charges are expected to be the last and will signal the finalisation of criminal charges following updated inquests in to the disaster in which 96 Liverpool fans died.
The families of the 96 will be contacted by the CPS and IOPC regarding the developments of the criminal investigation.
The prosecution deliberations are in addition to those that saw Former chief constable Sir Norman Bettison, Donald Denton, Alan Foster, Peter Metcalf and Sheffield Wednesday’s company secretary Graham Mackrell prosecuted.
Charges have also been approved against David Duckenfield however he can not officially be charged until a previous lift of legal stay has been approved.
All four who have currently been charged have indicated their intention to plead not guilty.
