Merseyside Police detectives are investigating after an injury shooting in Litherland this afternoon, Tuesday 23 January.
At around 2.10pm, the ambulance service reported that a man in his 20s had been shot in the area of Fulwood Way. He has been taken to hospital for assessment of his injuries, which are believed to be serious but non life-threatening.
Armed officers attended the scene and initial house-to-house and witness enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and exact location of this incident.
Chief Inspector Diane Pownall said: “This is the very early stages of our investigation so I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area of Fulwood Way this afternoon to come forward with any information, which may be vital as we seek to establish exactly what happened.
“To fire a weapon in the middle of the day is reckless in the extreme and we will act on all information from our communities to identify those responsible and put them before the courts.
“If you saw the incident itself, or anyone making off on foot or in a vehicle, and may have obtained any mobile phone or dash-cam footage, please let us know directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers. Any information, no matter how small, could help our initial enquiries.”
