Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man’s death in Speke.
Emergency services were called to a property in Catford Green at around 7.30am on Thursday to reports that a man in his 40s had been found.
Christian Wignall, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
A 40-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 64-year-old man from Speke have been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody for questioning.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of Mr Wignall’s death, which is currently being treated as suspicious.
A Home Office Post Mortem has taken place and the results have been withheld pending toxicology reports.
Detective Inspector Steve McGrath said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“Officers will be in the local area today speaking to the community and we are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw or heard any kind of disturbance on the evening of Wednesday 3 January in Catford Green.”
