Over 1,400 cars were destroyed in a New Year’s Eve fire in Liverpool.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5pm on Sunday as the area around Kings Dock was cordoned off and road closures put in effect.
A number of animals appearing in The Horse Of The Year Show at the Echo Arena were safely taken from the scene.
Nearby apartments and other buildings in the area also had to be evacuated as a precaution due to smoke billowing from the car park close to the venue.
No one has been seriously injured in the incident, which police believe was started by an accidental fire within a vehicle in the multi-storey car park.
Officers believe that all vehicles parked in the car park have been destroyed and advise owners to contact their insurance companies.
Liverpool City Council have opened a Reception Centre at their Lifestyles centre on Park Road for anyone affected by the fire and unable to get home or need temporary shelter.
