The Walton Centre staff gathered at Aintree Racecourse for their annual awards ceremony –Walton’s Disco Fever – to celebrate a year of successes across the hospital.
Each year the specialist neurosciences NHS Trust thanks staff for their dedication to patient care. Staff from across the hospital nominated their hard-working colleagues, and a number of nominations came directly from patients who’d had a great experience.
The 70s themed event saw ten awards ranging from ‘Improving Quality’ to ‘Bright Ideas Research’ given out to deserving winners. The final award for the ‘winner of winners’, the ‘Pride of Walton’, went to Jefferson Ward following a vote on the night.
Cathy Prescott, Jefferson Ward Manager, said: “We are absolutely over the moon to win the Team of the Year Award and the overall Pride of Walton Award! The team works very hard to maintain the high standard of patient care we provide.
“They are always professional, compassionate, and committed, and our patients love them. So it’s amazing that our colleagues have recognised that with these awards in this way. We will display the award with pride!”
Jefferson Ward received an impressive amount of nominations from both staff and patients which led to them winning the category Team of the Year earlier in the night, with many saying that the team works hard to make patients feel at ease about their treatment.
Chief Executive Chris Harrop said: “Every year I am astounded at the nominations we receive, filled with stories of staff going the extra mile to support our patients and their colleagues. It has been brilliant this year to also see nominations made by patients and their families in our new Patients’ Choice category.
“I’d like to thank ISS, Hill Dickinson, CSG, and Medstrom for generously sponsoring the event.
