Teenage boy dies in Sefton Park hit-and-run

A 16-year-old boy who was hit by a car in Sefton Park has died from his injuries in Hospital.

Police origianlly attended the scene shortly before 7.40pm last night to reports of a collision involving a black Audi car. The driver of the car left the scene of the incident on foot. A man was later detained close to the car and has been taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.

A 24-year-old man, from Dingle, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Officers have closed a section of Mossley Hill Drive in both directions from its junction with Croxteth Drive to the roundabout at Greenbank Lane to carry out investigation work, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. CCTV enquiries are being carried out to see if the collision was captured on camera.
