How to buy tickets for SPOTY 2017 in Liverpool

Tickets for this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year will go on sale on Friday.

Liverpool will celebrate an incredible 12 months of sport when it hosts the 2017 edition of the star-studded awards ceremony on Sunday, December 17.

An audience of around 11,000 will join presenters Gabby Logan, Gary Lineker and Clare Balding at the Echo Arena alongside millions of live TV viewers.

The city was previously home to the SPOTY in 2008 during its year as European Capital of Culture, when Olympic cyclist Chris Hoy was named its overall winner.

Presenter Gabby Logan is excited to be making a return with the show.

She said: “I love Liverpool. There is a real sense of passion and pride about the place and the people who live there.

“We want to create a fantastic atmosphere on the night for everyone in the arena and at home – I know Liverpool will deliver that.”

Wimbledon champion Andy Murray won last year’s award for a record third time, beating triathlete Alistair Brownlee and showjumpre Nick Skelton to the gong.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday, October 13, priced at £45 plus admin fees, see website for full details.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, minimum age 10 years.
