‘Till Death Us Do Part’ star Tony Booth has died at the age of 85.
The Liverpool-born actor, who rose to prominence as ‘Scouse git’ Mike Rawlins in the 1960s BBC sitcom, passed away on Monday night, his family has confirmed.
Booth’s career spanned over half a century with roles in various iconic shows including The Saint, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, EastEnders and The Bill.
He also made regular appearances in his home town as part of Mersey Beat, the BBC’s short-lived police drama in the early 2000s.
“It is with sadness we announce the death of Antony Booth, actor and political campaigner,” read a statement issued on behalf of his wife Steph Booth.
“Tony passed away late last night with close family members in attendance.
“The family ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.”
Booth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2004 but remained a firm political activist and was the father-in-law of ex-UK prime minister Tony Blair.
