Two arrested as man dies from Liverpool street injury

A man has died after suffering a serious head injury in Liverpool city centre.

Emergency services were called to Colquitt Street at 7.30pm on Sunday by a passer-by reporting they had found a man believed to have fallen from an upper storey balcony of an apartment block.

At the scene police officers and paramedics discovered a man in his 30s in a gated courtyard area with serious head injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital but was pronounced deceased a short time later.

A Home Office post mortem is due to take place to establish a cause of death.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and specialist family liaison officers will be supporting the family.

A 26-year-old woman from Netherton and a 30-year-old man from Litherland were both arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of controlled drugs.

Both have been taken to a police station for questioning by detectives.
