A seven-year-old boy has died following a fatal road crash in Upton.
Emergency services were called to Saughall Massie Road at 5.05pm on Sunday to reports of a collision between a silver Vauxhall Astra and a black Honda CR-V.
The young boy was sat in the back seat of the Honda when the incident occurred and was taken to hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.
Specialist family liaison officers will be supporting the next of kin of the child.
Police have temporarily closed Saughall Massie Road in both directions between its junction with West Derby Road and the Heron Road/Pump Lane roundabout.
Officers are carrying out their investigation and have advised that drivers are seek alternative routes.
