A Walton man has been jailed after being found guilty of child sex offences.
Kenneth Brown was handed a seven-year sentence at Liverpool Crown Court for seven offences of sexual activity with a child.
He was jailed for seven years for each offence, to run concurrently, and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Detective Inspector Jacky Fitzpatrick said: “Brown’s victim has shown an immense amount of bravery coming forward.
“I hope today’s sentence gives his victim some sense of closure and vindicates their decision to come forward.
“Merseyside Police takes every report of sexual offences seriously, whether or not they are recent, and has dedicated officers who are specially trained to both thoroughly investigate allegations and make sure that those reporting them are properly supported.
“In this case this was appropriately achieved by working together with dedicated staff from Liverpool Children’s Services. The support from a particular employee was commended by Judge Conrad.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure anyone who has suffered a sexual offence that if you can find the courage to come forward and speak to us, we will deal with you sensitively and make sure that reports are properly and thoroughly investigated.”
