A Kirkdale street has become the latest to be caught up in a daylight shooting.
Police were called to Fountains Road at 5.35pm on Wednesday following reports of loud bangs in the area.
Officers discovered that shots had been aimed in the direction of a car that was later driven towards Stanley Road.
Detectives believe that the incident was part of a targeted attack and have cordoned off the scene for forensic investigation.
Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe, said: “The investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is in its early stages.
“But we believe this was a targeted attack.
“I would appeal to people in the community who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area around Fountains Road shortly before, or after the incident to contact us.
“Information they have could help bring the people responsible to justice.”
