Liverpool enjoys start of summer heatwave

The hottest weekend of 2017 is set to continue in Liverpool for another seven days.

Temperatures are expected to reach 26C on Saturday, that will make the city hotter than Istanbul with figures failing to surpass 25 in the Turkish city.

Liverpool’s summer climate will also reach the high 20s on Sunday and Wednesday with figures not expected not fall to 19 degrees until next Saturday.

With sunset not due until almost 10pm on the longest day of the year, sun worshippers will be able to take in the rays until later than usual.

The Met Office have issued a series of handy tips to enjoy the warm weather.

A spokesman said: “Hot is the theme of the weather this weekend with some very strong sunshine throughout this afternoon, so do take care.

“UV levels are very high so have suncream and a water bottle close to hand.

“There is barely a cloud in the sky and temperatures will continue to climb throughout the day.

“If heat is not your thing, head to the beach, as it will be cooler around coastal areas.

“This evening there will be clear skies and late night sunshine so ideal for any outdoor plans.

“Overnight it will be a muggy and sticky night so very difficult for sleeping.

“But it will be a warm start to Sunday morning – again feeling cooler around the coast

“Sunday evening will be another fine evening with barely a cloud in the sky.

“And it is the longest day of the year so the sun will last well past 9pm and into the evening.”
