A Liverpool has been shut down after it was labelled ‘appalling’ by Care Quality Commission.
Bentley Care Home received an inspection from the CQC, who certified it as “inadequate” in all areas, putting residents “lives, health and wellbeing” at risk.
Upon inspection, all 48 residents were immediately moved out of Bentley Care Home and relocated them to more suitable homes.
Inspectors found dead flies and mouse droppings in the kitchen as well as a disconnected call bell. Environmental Health closed the kitchen due to a serious rodent issue.
Debbie Westhead, the deputy chief inspector for adult social care at the CQC said: “We were left with no other option than to urgently remove their registration and work with Liverpool City Council to immediately relocate residents.
“I have no doubt that if Bentley Care Home stayed open, it would have been a case of when, not if, something awful and unavoidable would have happened.”
Westhead also branded the care home as “appalling” when describing the state of the home on Bentley Road.
During previous inspections in April and May, the CQC raised concerns over medicine not being stored safely and staff sleeping during night shifts.
The home was run by Prasur Investment Ltd. had been placed in special measures under its previous operator back in 2015.
