Two injured in Liverpool late-night double shooting

Police are appealing for information after two men were injured in a late-night double shooting in Liverpool.

A 43-year-old man was shot in the chest in Fazakerley at around 10.50pm on Thursday, when a group of men are believed to have entered the property in Bradville Road

The victim was taken to hospital, where he currently remains in a critical condition, for treatment on injuries consistent with a firearm discharge.

That incident had been preceded by a similar one in Seaforth just 25 minutes earlier, in which a second man suffered gun shot wounds, to his arms and legs.

Four men forced their way into a house in Chatham Close at around 10.25pm, where the 27-year-old sustained the injuries.

He was also taken to hospital and is said to be in a stable condition with his injuries not described as life-threatening.

Uniformed officers will continue to patrol the streets in the surrounding areas of both Seaforth and Fazakerley as the separate investigations get underway.

Responding to the Fazakerley incident, Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe said: “The investigation into this incident is in its very early stages and we are keeping an open mind as to why this has happened.

“Criminals who choose to settle their disputes with a weapon do not care about the fear they bring to communities in Merseyside.

“We need the public to help us make the streets safer by telling us what they know about these criminals.

“I promise we will take robust action and put these people before the courts and in prison. If you know something, please pick up the phone and let us know.”

Anyone who witnessed either incident or has any information about the investigation is urged to contact the gun crime hotline on 0800 230 0600 or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
