Woman and children found dead in Liverpool flat

The bodies of a woman and two children have been found in a Liverpool flat.

Police attended a ground floor flat in Falkner Street shortly before 7.30pm on Tuesday following reports of concern for the safety of people inside.

Upon entry of the flat, the bodies of a woman and two children were discovered.

Several nearby properties in the area were originally evacuated as emergency services had attended the scene to investigate a potential gas leak.

A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has subsequently been taken to hospital after falling ill.

Merseyside Police believe that the incident is domestic related and are not looking for anyone else in connection with their investigation at this early stage.

Residents have since been allowed back into their homes on Falkner Street with the exception of those either side of the address where the deceased were found.

Road closures remain in place on Falkner Street and Catharine Street and motorists are advised to avoid the area. House to house enquiries are underway.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have information or who may have seen anything prior to their arrival at the scene to contact 0151 777 4065.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
