Girl, 11, hospitalised by Fazakerley road crash

An 11-year-old girl has been hospitalised by a road traffic crash in Fazakerley.

Emergency services were called to Second Avenue at around 6.55pm on Monday following a collision involving a blue Ford Mondeo, and the young pedestrian.

She was taken to hospital, where she was initially described as critical, for treatment on a head injury but is now said to be in a stable condition.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving but has since been relased pending further enquiries.

Second Avenue was temporarily closed off to both motorists and pedestrians to allow police officers to carry out a forensic examination of the scene.
